Milonga - Tango - Festival & Workshop Termine
Everybody knows that tango, milonga and valse have different rhythms (4/4, 3/4, 4/8). However, in contrast to the Vienna waltz, the tango vals is only danced every three beats, i.e. in fact you also dance it as a 4/4 rhythm. This leads many people to dance the vals in the same way as a regular tango.
However, in fact tango and vals have completely different characteristics. To enjoy vals to the fullest, you should be aware of the differences between tango and vals
Vals is more fluid and more dynamic than tango. In this workshop, we will dive into the details of the differences.
We will start experiencing the rhythm and the flow, move over to simple steps and later to more advanced figures.
The workshop is intended for people who are already familiar with the basic figures in tango (walking, ochos, turns).
Due to the high dynamics of the vals, we also recommend dancing shoes (no street shoes, no socks).
We recommend that you register as a couple. We will change partners regularly. You may also try role changes if you want to. But this is not required if you prefer to stay in one role.
The workshop will last from 14:00 through 18:00. The final half hour will be a practica where you can try out all the things while the teachers are still presen tand will happily answer all of your questions.
Costs: You need to be registered with the TU Sports Programm for the winter semester 2024/25 (Externals: 40 Euro, other universities: 20 Euro). With this you can participate in all workshops we offer.
Registration-Form (TU externals must buy a guest card first here)
The workshops are led by tango dancers who volunteer to share their knowledge and experience. We are not tango teachers in the traditional sense and do many things differently from classical dance schools or traditional tango classes. This usually includes regular partner switching.
