Workshops with Natasha Agudelo & Diego Benavidez
With over 25 years of experience as directors, choreographers and tango dancers, Natasha Agudelo & Diego Benavidez are one of the most renowned couples both nationally and internationally. They are celebrated for their unique elegance, technique and musicality, as well as for their ‘Caminar al Piso’ (grounded walk), which has made them true ambassadors of traditional Buenos Aires tango.
As educators, they have developed a teaching methodology centred on the technique of the embrace and the fundamental art of the tango walk. Their approach prioritises musical interpretation, encouraging students to express deep feeling and emotion.
In 2011, they were crowned World Tango Champions and World Milonguero Champions in the Tango de Salón category at the official competition organised by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
They are also:
• Coaches to professional dance couples from countries including Colombia, Italy, and Argentina.
• Creators and producers of diverse cultural events.
• Global ambassadors of Argentine and Colombian tango.
In 2012, they were awarded the Cruz de Bolívar by the Colombian government in recognition of their distinguished careers as artists, researchers and promoters of cultural exchange. They currently reside in Rome, Italy.

14:45 – 16:15 Giros and Ochos: Understanding circularity through changes of direction.
16:30 – 18:00 Vals: Changes in dynamics and musical cadence.
Sunday 21. June
11:00 – 12:30 Musicality, Interpretation, and Cadence: Listening to the music to understand its character and intention, and playing with rhythmic figures to create clarity and meaning in interpretation.
13:00 – 14:30 Milonga: Rhythm, speed, and playful interaction within the couple.

Tango Technique for Man and Woman: The Art of Balance: (Axis, and Presence), Connection and Rhythm.
- Body activation and alignment of feet, knees, hips, and torso.
- Weight perception on the soles of the feet (internal/external support).
- Shared axis exercises: micro-displacements.
- Coordination between individual axis and embrace.
- Conscious walking on different planes (ground, air, suspension).
Objective: Experience the axis as a source of freedom, not rigidity. Flow in musical improvisation, both leading and following. Achieve a perfect and genuine connection during the dance, allowing for greater freedom and enjoyment. Seeking fluidity, naturalness and personality in the dance.
